    A delicious heirloom Polish recipe.
    I tried these cabbage rolls  and they were very yummy, especially when you add the sour cream.
    This looks like a dish that could be easily adapted for use with a slow cooker and have the wonder smell to greet you at the door after a hard day's work.
    I've made a nearly identical meal many times before. I add slivered onions and green peppers to the kraut. I have ever used chicken broth... just added water. That's a good idea though.
    A reader emailed the other day asking if I was indian on account of the sauerkraut and cabbage recipes on Simply Recipes. My father's grandparents on both sides were from Austria and he grew up with many traditional German and Austrian dishes and a love for cooked cabbage in various forms. This love he passed on to me and I'm delighted to present his sweet and sour red cabbage recipe.
    My old neighborhood in San Francisco used to have a fabulous Hungarian restaurant where I loved to go for pork stuffed cabbage rolls. The restaurant has since gone out of business, but my love for the dish remains.
    Goes nicely with a crisp salad.

    Creole Cabbage Rolls

    With CREOLE SAUCE
    1 cup canned whole tomatoes and juice
    1 teaspoon salt
    1/2 teaspoon red pepper
    1 teaspoon sugar
    1/2 lemon (for juice)
    1 cup water

    One of the best traditional cabbage rolls recipes. Inventive and with a touch of unexpected and delightful surprises.
